Title: Dawn Patrol
Composer: Joe Kraemer
The Film: Scott Eastwood is a marine whose sins of the past come back to haunt him.
The Score: Joe Kraemer’s music is very reflective and thoughtful. A bit of a throwback, it’s pretty synth-heavy and some of it reminds me of Harold Faltermeyer’s Top Gun. That’s a good thing.
Distinguishing Features: The lovely solo piano of ‘Surfer’s Farewell’, the emotional melody of ‘Mothers and Sons’, the quirky keyboard riff in ‘Life’s A Beach’.
Final Thoughts: Kraemer’s ability to adapt is illustrated well in this small score, which also shows his talent for melodies. Interestingly introspective.
Dawn Patrol is out on CD on June 2 from Lakeshore Records
